What's in a name?

To work together with me means working together with Present Company Included, the entity that I started in 2022.

​

The name "Present Company Included" is a reference to a common American saying: "Present Company Excluded", used to say that a critical comment one has made about a group of people does not include the person or people one is with. Like: Men are such jerks—present company excluded, of course.

​

Present Company Included is a constant, conscious reminder that our words have meaning and impact. And that we need to be mindful of our intentions vs. our impact. 

In business and with our people.

Diversity, equity and inclusion by design, not by default


Despite the strength of the business case, very few organizations can say they’re truly inclusive. It’s not that diversity, equity and inclusion is suffering from a lack of attention but it is suffering from a lack of results. Why?

​

The intent is there. Leaders are making pledges to do better at building more inclusive organizations. The challenge for many is knowing where to start and where to focus.

It’s not enough to just talk about change; we must act to change. We must build inclusive organizations by design, not default. Make decisions based on data and facts, not long-held bias.

 

We need to hire and nurture inclusive leaders who can bring together diverse knowledge, perspectives, and experiences. To unite everyone behind one vision. Then support the right team mindset and behaviors with the right structure and processes to make change happen.

Data & Reporting

Culture, feelings, experiences are hard to catch in cold hard numbers. However, this is the lingo of the business world.

We want things to be tangible, measurable and therefore manageable and even though there's no 100% guarantee PCI does help companies to do exactly this.

We can not quantify every part of your company culture, but some things we can definitely measure,

for instance:

There are a couple of footnotes here:

  1. To measure is to know, so you need to be committed to making changes if the results require this from you (we can, of course, help you with this).

  2. To measure once is not saying much. To make your data valuable you need to repeat the process at a relatively high frequency.

  3. Knowing is better than not knowing. Always.
